EVERETT WELPER RITES HELD SATURDAY

Everett F. Welper, 66, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, in an automobile accident in rural Caledonia.

He was born May 1, 1931, in Waukon, IA, to Virgil and Irene (Buege) Welper. He was a car salesman in the area for most of his life, and worked for Caledonia Ford and other car dealers. Everett loved to spend time at the Redwood Cafe with his friends and he enjoyed driving in the area in his car. But what truly made him happy was spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by a daughter, Julie (Brian) Hunter of La Crosse, WI; a son, John; three grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert (Colleen) Welper of La Crescent, MN, and Virgil Welper of New Albin, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leslie, and a grandson, Damien.

Memorial services were at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, June 7, at McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia. Rev. Rolf Storlie officiated. Friends called at the funeral home before the service. In accordance with his wishes, his body will be cremated and his ashes scattered at his family farm.
