AMANDA MEYER DIES IN 90TH YEAR

Amanda S. Meyer, 90, Caledonia, died Sunday, June 1, 1997, at The Lutheran Home: Caledonia.

She was born August 3, 1906, in Union City Township, Allamakee County, IA, to Wilhelm and Maria (Hinrichs) Stehr. On August 24, 1939, she married Paul G. Meyer at St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, and he preceded her in death in November of 1976. Amanda farmed with her husband in the Wheatland area, rural New Albin, until they retired and moved into the city of New Albin. In 1994, Amanda loved into The Lutheran Home: Caledonia.

Survivors include one nephew, Kermit (Vi) Stehr of Lansing, IA; and three nieces, Margaret Carnine of Storm Lake, IA; Althea Eickhoff of Glendale, AZ; and Anita (Roland) Deters of Caledonia. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Leona Gade; and three brothers, Paul, William and Theodore Stehr.

Funeral services were Thursday, June 5, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland. Rev. Lawrence and Rev. Laura Odegaard officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Friends called at the New Albin Town House on Wednesday night and at the church Thursday before services. The Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
