Jemima Pickenpaugh was born February 17th, 1834, in Green Co., Pennsylvania, and was united in marriage to James L. Hoard in 1853.

They came to this state and settled near Rossville 45 years ago and her home was in that vicinity since that time.

Ten children were born to them, six of whom still live, viz: Clark of LaCrosse, Joseph and George of Norton, Kansas, Aaron of St. Paul, Minn., Charles of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Charles Deal of Rossville.

Last winter her husband died and she passed away from this life July 4th, 1909, aged 79 years, 4 months and 7 days.

The funeral was held in the Presbyterian church at Rossville and burial at Evergreen cemetery, July 7th, Rev. R.L. Van Nice officiating. The many friends of the bereaved families sympathize with them in these, their dark hours of sorrow.
