Waukon Republican Jan. 13, 1909
James Hoard of Rossville, died in Waukon Tuesday night, January 12th. He has been in poor health for several years and during the past few weeks was afflicted with senile dementia. Mr. Hoard before moving to his new home, south of Rossville, owned a fine farm on the Waukon-Rossville road, now occupied by his son-in-law, Chas. Deal. He is survived by a widow, one son, Aaron and a daughter, Mrs. C. Deal.
**Note** His wife's Jemima's obit states 6 children were living. She died 5 months after James.

WAUKON, Ia - James Hoard, who was committed to the Independence hospital by the insane commissioners last week, died at the jail here Monday night and was buried at the Rossville cemetery Thursday.

Note: Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, where he & his wife, Jemima (Pickenpaugh) Hoard, have a gravestone.
