Ed. F. Medary informs us of a fatal accident to Peter Allison, a wealthy farmer living a few miles west of Waukon. On Tuesday while stacking hay, the fork fell upon Allison breaking his leg and injuring him internally. His death occurred Tuesday night. Allison was aged about 70 years.

It was a shock to the Larson's of this locality to hear of the sudden and untimely death of Peter Allison of Union Prairie on the 21st inst. Mr. Allison was a brother-in-law of Ole Larson with a former wife. Deceased was a whole souled good hearted man; possessed many good and noble qualities which will entwine his memory to the hearts of those who knew him best. He was an upright hard working and thrifty farmer. He once said to the writer that he could earn a quarter section of land every year. His third wife and many little children though stricken with unspeakable grief by the violent manner in which the great destroyer smote him down in the midst of a busy life, have this great comfort and consolation that they are left in very comfortable circumstances, and that the kind and loving husband and father had perhaps not an enemy on earth. We take time to sorrow with the bereaved family, as no words from us could in any way mitigate their great grief in the irreparable loss they have sustained.
