Thomas Atkin Warren

Tom Warren, veteran tinsmith, passed away at his home in New Albin, Iowa about 8 o'clock Monday morning, December 12, following a two week illness.

Deceased was born Jan. 25, 1863, at Newville, Wis., the son of the late Thomas and Margaret Warren. In January, 1893, he was married to Miss Mary Sullivan of Argyle, Wis. They lived in Chicago for a while, going to Waterloo (Wis), then lived at Edgerton, from where they moved to Lansing, Iowa, where they lived for two years, then moving to a farm at Village Creek. In 1927 he came to New Albin and made his home here until the time of his death.

Survivors include his widow, five daughters, Mrs. Jake (Mamie) Moe, Lansing; Mrs. Dan (Marguerite) Shafer, Spooner, Wis.; Miss Helen Warren; LaCrosse, Wis.; Mrs. LeRoy (Catherine) Jeglum, Waterville (IA),; Mrs. Fred (Alice) Thornton, Postville, (IA); one son, Thomas A. Warren, Waukon, also twelve grandchildren and a number of nieces. One daughter, Elizabeth, preceded him in death in 1927, also a son dying in infancy.

During his eleven years residence here, Mr. Warren was a progressive business man. As a citizen, neighbor, and friend he was known by everyone in New Albin, who admired him for his scrupulous honesty and fine traits of character.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at the Fitschen Undertaking Parlors at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Bernard Kemper, pastor of the M.E. church officiating. The remains were taken to Lansing and laid to rest in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery. The casket bearers were Flavius Wilder, Village Creek; Robt. Cavers, Lansing; G.H. Welper, Simon Medicus, Floyd Pottratz, Walter Tippery of this place. Allamakee Journal, Lansing and Waukon, Iowa.

Mr. Warren and family will be remembered by many older citizens of this city as former residents of Edgerton.
