Sadie Grace Redhead was born Dec. 10, 1877, on a farm near Postville, Iowa. Her parents moved to Postville in 1888. Sadie united with the Congregational church July 29, 1894. She went to Des Moines about three years ago to make her home. On September 29, 1912, she and George T. Eckard were united in marriage. They lived happily together until death summoned her and her infant son on July 20, 1914. Mrs. Eckard was a good woman, a devoted wife, a faithful friend, a follower of her Savior. The whole community was saddened by her untimely decease and many are the words of sympathy for her husband, mother and relatives.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Childress, assisted by Rev. Mellott, in the Congregational church at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 23, and the body of Mrs. Eckard was laid to rest beside her little son in the Postville cemetery.
