The Rev. John J. Hall, 60, pastor of the, United Methodist churches at Lansing and New Albin, died Wednesday, June 11, following an apparent heart attack.
He was in Des Moines attending a meeting for United Methodist ministers at the time he was stricken. Sunday was to have been his last service in the Lansing and New Albin churches. He was to have become minister at a United Methodist church in Plainfield.
Hall, who for the past year headed a La Crosse support group for single parents, had served United Methodist churches in Illinois, Missouri and Iowa, coming to the Lansing and New Albin churches in 1976.
He was born June 7, 1920, in Ringsted.
Survivors are a daughter, Jan Reynolds of Des Moines; three sons, John Randall of Johnson, Vt., Joel Rodney of Ames and Jeff Raymond of Des Moines; two grandsons; four sisters, Mrs. Ben (Sylvia) Segerstrom of Red Wing, Minn., Mrs. Myrtle Segerstrom of Chisholm, Minn., Mrs. Richard (Carolyn) Whitmer of Wheaton, Ill., and Ruth Hall of Natal, South Africa; and a brother, Gaylord of Underwood, Minn.
Memorial services will be today at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Lansing, and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Ankeny United Methodist Church.
