Funeral Services for Elmer Schultz held in Postville
Elmer B. Schultz, 72 of Castalia died Monday, Jan 31 at his farm north of Castalia.
Pastor Norris C. Swenson conducted funeral services Thursday, Feb 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.
Burial was in the Postville Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Arthur Schultz, James Schultz, Alan Schultz, Cloy Kneeskern, Wayne Kneeskern and Lyle Schultz. Mrs. Bernard Martins was organist, and the congregation sang two hymns. Funeral arrangements were made by Schutte Funeral Home of Postville.
Elmer B. Schultz was born on a farm in Bloomfield Township near Castalia January 9, 1905, the son of Henry V. and Vena Warnholtz Schultz.
During World War II, he served in the South Pacific as a member of the U.S. Navy, and he was a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. After his return from service, he farmed and also was employed by the Postal Mail Service for many years.
He became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville in 1963 and was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia.
Mr. Schultz was married to Amanda Reinhardt February 15, 1952. He is survived by his wife; four brothers, George, Henry, and Roy Schultz, all of Castalia, and Joe Schultz of Decorah; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Schmidt of Castalia and Mrs. Dean (Elsie) Kneeskern of Preston, Minn. and several nephews and nieces.
His parents and a brother, who died in infancy, preceded him in death.
