Martin Halverson Dies in Lansing
Martin L. Halverson, 86, of Waukon, died Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Thornton Manor nursing home in Lansing.
He was born Oct. 7, 1892 in Clayton county, a son of Halvor and Larine Johnson Halverson. He married Mamie Warnholtz in Fayette county Sept 27, 1917. He attended Clermont high school, was a farmer and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife; six sons, Dorf, Lynn, and Leo of Waukon, Roger of McGregor, Harvey of Lansing and Kenneth of Prairie du Chien, WI; four daughters, Mrs. Lester (Delila) Reick of Waukon, Mrs. Rodney (Kathleen) Olson and Mrs. Robert (Marian) Sandry, both of Lansing, and Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) L. White of Prairie du Chien; 57 grandchildren: 50 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Schroeder of Postville and Mrs. Allen Erickson of Cheyenne, WY. He was preceded in death by two sons, Eugene and Frederich, and brothers and sisters Albert, Dorf, Tillie, Josie, Suzanna, and Maud.
Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's with the Rev. Marlyn Hansing officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons, Dorf, Leo, Kenneth, Lynn, Roger and Harvey Halverson. Martin Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Note: I have Andrinne or Anna Johnson for the mother of Martin. Larine was put in by the newspaper.
