Died.

At his residence on Yellow River in Post township, May 23d, of lung fever, S. N. Bates, aged 63 (could be 68) years.

The funeral services were attended at the White school house, Bloomfield township, Winneshiek county; services by Rev. B. Fulsom of Myron; subject, St. John, xiv chap. 1st verse. Many thanks to the many friends who assisted in the burying of the dead, and to the sympathizing people of Postville who lent a helping hand to the afflicted widow.
