Mrs. Belle Seitz-Meier was born on the Seitz farm, two miles east of Monona, Iowa, June 7th, 1855, and died at her home in Postville, Iowa, December 11th, 1921, aged 66 years, six months and four days.

Her early days were spent on the farm, from which she attended the public school, and by personal effort equipped herself for the calling to which she bent every effort, that of teaching. For several years she taught in district schools in Mendon and Farmersburg townships, her work highly commended by both pupils and parents.

On the 14th day of March, 1887, she united in marriage to August L. Meier. To this union a daughter, Miss Amy, was born, who with the father sincerely mourn the passing of a devoted and loving wife and mother. The major part of Mrs. Meier's wedded life has been spent in Postville. The sadness of her passing is attested by the floral offerings covering her casket from neighbors and personal friends from far and near.

Besides the husband and daughter, three sisters survive her - Mrs. Geo. H. Otis, Monona; Mrs. W. J. Knowles, McGregor; and Mrs. Chas. J. Jordan, Topeka, Kansas, and also a large circle of relatives in South Dakota and New York City, Postville, McGregor and Monona, counted with a host of personal friends in her home town and elsewhere.

The funeral was held from the Community church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J. A. Saatoff. Interment in the Postville cemetery.

The following relatives from out of town were present at the services: Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Otis, Mrs. E. R. Otis, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Meier, Mrs. D. W. Meier, Mrs. Muth and Mrs. Motley of Monona; Mrs. W. J. Knowles, Mrs. H. Elwell and Mrs. I. Walter of McGregor.
