Postville Review, Fri., 1 Aug. 1902.

Death Of Mrs. Charles Deering.

Mrs. Caroline Deering, wife of Chas. Deering, died at the family residence on Thursday morning, July 24, 1902, after a lingering illness. Deceased was born in Berlin, Germany June 12, 1837. Her maiden name was Caroline Blank. She was united in marriage with Mr. Chas. Deering, Oct. of 1862. They came to the state of Michigan, June 9, 1867, and moved to Postville, IA, Apr. 17, 1872, where they have since resided. The family consists of five children - Laura, Frank, Winnie, Hattie and Mortimer - all of whom were present at the time of her death. She leaves a husband, five children and a sister to mourn her loss.

Mrs. Deering was admired by a large circle of friends and neighbors for her many noble traits. In her youth she joined the Lutheran church and has lived a christian life, having been a constant worshipper. By her death she leaves an aching void in the hearts of those who called her friend. Her presence will be missed not only in the family circle, where she shared the fond affection of husband and children, but in the homes of others whose lives she brightened by her pleasant association. She reached the age of 65 years, one month and 12 days.

The funeral was held from the Evergreen school house last Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. The remains were laid to rest in the Minert cemetery.
