Elizabeth Markwardt was born in Heidorf, Mecklenburg Schwerm, Germany, July 20, 1835, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Schultz, near Postville, Dec. 20, 1907, at 11:30 p.m., aged 72 years and five months. In 1856 she was married to Christian Moll, who died in Germany. To this union were born six children, four of whom died in Germany. In 1869 she was again married to Charles Markwardt. In 1872 she came to America with her husband, settling first at Mauch-Chunck, PA, and in 1876 they came to Postville. In April 1901 her second husband died. The last days of her life she spent with her daughter, Mrs William Schultz. She is survived by two children, Wm. Moll and Mrs. Schultz. The funeral was held from the Lutheran church Monday afternoon. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
