Cyrus Arlington Ammons, youngest son of Benjamin and Permelia Ammons, was born near Fairview, Marion county, Virginia, December 2, 1860, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Simpson, in Osage, Iowa, April 16, 1939, at the age of 78 years, four months and 14 days.

On February 7, 1893, at Stratton, Nebraska, he was united in marriage with Lucretia Helen Starkey. To this union were born three children, Edna Simpson of Osage; Harold, who died in infancy, and Harvey of Postville. His wife passed away January 26, 1901.

In 1899 he came to Postville, where he resided for 34 years, following the occupation of draying until failing health caused him to give up his work and he went to Osage to make his home with his daughter.

In his boyhood he was baptized in the Christian church. After coming to Postville he united with the Congregational church and later became a charter member of the Community Presbyterian church.

He is survived by his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Simpson of Osage; his son, Harvey, of Postville; a brother, Millard Ammons, of Seymour, Iowa; brother-in-law, W. R. Starkey, and wife of Postville, as well as by many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The remains were brought to Postville last Sunday morning and the funeral was held from the Community Presbyterian church at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. J. Ian Fraser officiating. Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
