Mariett Daniels was born in Vermont in the year 1821. Was married to Benjamin Wells, July 27th, 1842, and removed to Iowa in 1852 where she has since resided. Eleven children were born to them of whom five survive - four boys and one girl.

Mrs. Wells has been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since 1867. Since the death of her husband, June 12th, 1883, she has been living with her children. She died at the home of her son in Minneapolis, Oct. 24th, 1899, aged 77 years, 6 months, 25 days.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternnon in the Methodist church. The services were conducted by Rev. Barton. Her body was laid to rest beside those of her husband's in the Postville cemetery.
