W. H. Weighner Funeral Was Held Here Saturday.

Funeral services for W. H. (Dick) Weighner, who passed away at the University Hospital in Iowa City last week, Tuesday, were held on Saturday afternoon at the Community Presbyterian church in this city with the Rev. L. E. Crippen of Charlton, former local pastor of the United Brethren church officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. Ian Fraser of the Community church. Interment was made in Postville cemetery.

William Herman Weighner was born in Crawford county, Wisconsin, June 27, 1865, the son of Adam and Clotilda Weighner. At the age of fifteen years he came to this community to work for the late Henry Webb until 1891.

He was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Terrill on October 21, 1891, and the couple went to Prairie du Chien, Wis., where Mr. Weighner worked on the railroad. In 1894 he rented a farm near Castalia where they resided for three years and moved to Postville March 1, 1898, to again engage in railroad work. He continued in the employ of the Milwaukee railroad for 32 years and upon retiring became sexton of the Postville cemetery which position he held for four years. During the past several years Mr. Weighner has worked at odd jobs as his health permitted.

Ever a kind and loving husband, a good neighbor and a faithful friend, he had attracted to him a wide circle of friends, who together with the following surviving relatives mourn his passing: His wife, Mrs. Mary Weighner; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Horkheimer of Prairie du Chien, and Mrs. Hannah Reamsma of Charlevoix, Michigan; one brother, Charles Weighner, of Prairie du Chien, and many other relatives.
