Rites Held For Dale Brainard
Funeral services for Dale Brainard were held Monday, April 16, 1984 at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Rev. Dennis E. Morey officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Dale Edgar Lewis Brainard, son of George and Eva (Smith) Brainard, was born January 25, 1917 in Post Township, Allamakee County. He died Thursday, April 12, 1984 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, Decorah.
Dale attended the Lybrand School near his home. On March 20, 1940 he was married to Erna Wullner at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They were the parents of 3 children.
They farmed near Postville. After his retirement Dale became the neighborhood mechanic.
He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lee.
Surviving are his wife, Erna; 2 sons, Ted of Chatfield, MN, and Dan of Denver, CO; a daughter, Diane (Donald) Stump of Girard, PA; 3 grandchildren, Theresa, Elizabeth and Michael Brainard; 5 brothers, Keith and John of Postville, Ray of Marion and Gene and Edgar of Waukon; and 3 sisters, Barbara (Kenneth) Schori of Chicago, IL, Janice (Leland) Walby and Bernice Poesch, both of Postville.
