Bertha Savina Casten, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Welzel, was born in Clayton county, Iowa, Sept. 23, 1882, and died at her home near Postville, Monday, Sept. 11, 1916, aged 33 years, 11 months and 18 days. She was married to Carl Casten on January 12, 1909, and to this union two children were born, who with the husband, her parents, and many relatives and friends survive her. The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city, Wednesday, Sept. 13th, conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
