Charles F. Gordon Passes On At Bruce, Wisconsin.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------.

Charles F. Gordon, son of Angus and Nancy Gordon, was born May 18, 1861, on the farm west of Postville, and passed away at his home near Bruce, Wisconsin, Friday, June 26, 1936, at the age of 75 years, one month and eight days.

His early life was spent on the Henderson Prairie farm of his parents, where he assisted with the work on the farm and gleaned his education in rural schools, and farming has always been his life's occupation.

On September 12, 1892, he was united in marriage with Elsie A. Padrick at Rock Rapids, Iowa, and the first year of their wedded life was spent at Luverne, Minnesota. In 1894 they returned to Postville and engaged in farming on the L. D. B. Hawkins place northwest of this city, a few years later purchasing a farm of their own in the northwest part of Post township, which they occupied until about ten years ago, when they sold their holdings here and purchased a farm near Bruce, Wisconsin, which has since been the family home.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Cecil (now Mrs. Lester Davis)of Bruce, Wisconsin, and Zana (now Mrs. Joseph Kaszmarski) of Pettibone, North Dakota; a step-daughter, Hazel (now Mrs. Walter Brandt) of Frankville; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Huffy of Gilroy, California; Mrs. Kate Jepson of Isabelle, South Dakota; Mrs. Grace Bellows of Pettibone, North Dakota; and two brothers, Benton, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Fred E. Gordon of Postville, beside many other relatives and a host of friends.

Practically all of Mr. Gordon's life had been lived in this community where he was known to us all as an honest, upright and industrious man, a good husband, father and friend, who throughout his earthly pilgramage measured well up to the full stature of a man.

The funeral service was held from the community Presbyterian church in Frankville at two-thirty o'clock on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Fred E. Butler officiating, and the large gathering of sorrowing friends and the numerous beautiful floral offerings fully attested the high place he held in the hearts and homes of the people where he was best known. Interment was made in Frankville cemetery.

In this connection the family wish to thank the many old neighbors and friends for their kindly assistance and sympathy.
