Faye (MacTaggart) Chevalier

Funeral services for Faye Chevalier were held Saturday, January 20, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Andrew Presbyterian Church at Iowa City. The Rev. Mark Martin officiated. A private burial was in the cemetery at Strawberry Point, Iowa. A memorial service was held Monday, January 22, 2001 in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverends Robert Hupp and Mark Martin conducted the service. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of local arrangements.

Faye (MacTaggart) Chevalier, 77, died Thursday, January 18, 2001 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Palliative Care Unit of complications from a stroke.

Faye was born February 13, 1923 in rural Strawberry Point, Iowa, the daughter of Lyal and Nesta (Hall) MacTaggart. She married Marvin Chevalier on June 21, 1945 in Cedar Rapids at the First Lutheran Church.

Faye was a graduate of the Davenport Business College. She and her family had lived in Strawberry Point and Monticello. From 1957 to 1992 they lived in Postville where she served as the St. Paul Lutheran Church secretary. In 1992 she and her husband moved to Iowa City.

She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Chapter KP of PEO, Order of the Eastern Star and I-Club. She and her husband were members of the University of Iowa President's Club and Charter Members of the Friends of UIHC.

Faye was an avid reader and learner. Many benefitted from her written thoughts and caring actions. She and Marvin greatly enjoyed Hawkeye sports, particularly wrestling. Above all she was a devoted mother, wife and friend.

Survivors include: her husband Marvin; her children, John (Beverley) Chevalier of Peterborough, Ontario, David Chevalier of San Jose, CA, Denise (Boris) Gregoric of Iowa City, Paul Chevalier of Beaumont, CA; 2 grandchildren, Brett and Danielle; special family, Jai Bakshi and Neena Bakshi and their children of Redlands, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents.
