Mike Howard Killed
Just as we are ready to go to press we learn that Michael Howard, a young man living just south of town and most favorably known, was killed yesterday afternoon by a falling tree. He and Frank Verdon were chopping together on land bought from W. Massiker adjoining his own. 'Tis a terribly sad affair. He leaves a widow and one child.
Lansing Mirror 18 Jan. 1901MICHAEL HOWARD
As briefly noted in our last, Michael Howard, a well known young farmer of this township was instantly killed on the 17th by a limb of a tree striking him on the head, crushing his face in a shocking manner. He and his brother-in-law, Frank Verdon, were carting timber for ties, Mr. Howard having a large contract to fulfill. They had felled a large tree, a branch from which struck another tree and flew back with the result above noted.
Deceased was aged about 41 years and leaves a wife and one child. He was a model man and a most respected citizen, whose untimely demise has cast a gloom over the entire community. The funeral on Sunday was a very large one, interment at Wexford cemetery.
