Much surprise was occasioned Sunday morning by the announcement of the death of Mrs. John Widmeier, who had been ailing for a month past, but who appeared far from the final end of life up to the day of her demise. Her age was about 67 years. With her husband she came to this county in 1856, settling on a farm in this township, and removing to town later. Two sons of a family of seven alone survive, five dying after reaching manhood and womanhood. Deceased was much esteemed by her large circle of acquaintances. The funeral on Wednesday afternoon from the German Presbyterian church was quite largely attended, Rev. Kern officiating. The bereft and aged husband lies on a bed of sickness at this time and the fear is that he, too, will soon pass to the beyond.
Members of the family desire to extend thanks to kind friends for aid in their hour of distress.
