A memorial service for Iva Pearl Bruckner will be held Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in the Salem United Church of Christ, rural Waukon, Iowa with Pastor Judy Scheer officiating.

Iva Pearl, daughter of John Pearl and Carrie Jane (Taylor) Ellis, was born October 4, 1919 in Postville, Iowa. She attended the Postville School. On June 3, 1937 Iva married Frank Bruckner. They farmed in Wisconsin, then moved back to Postville where they farmed north of Postville on the J. P. Ellis farm. They moved to a farm near Effigy Mounds in Allamakee County, Iowa. For the past 19 years, Iva lived in Florida. Iva loved to cook for her family, making delicious homemade bread, rolls, and preserving many quarts of the produce she grew in her garden. She enjoyed making crafts and for the last several years she was making latch hook rugs.

Iva Pearl Bruckner died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at a hospital in North Fort Myers, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank who died on June 30, 1983, a grandson, Donald Duvel, a great-grandson, Harley Jensen, a sister, Ruby Crago, and five brothers, Lyle Ellis, Clifford "Kip" Ellis, Kenneth Ellis, Roy Ellis, and Lloyd "Curley" Ellis.

Iva is survived by her children, 3 daughters, Laura (Orville) Duvel of Postville, Iowa, Sharon Bruckner of Park Rapids, Minnesota, Evelyn (Ron) Milham of Waukon, Iowa and 1 son, David (Carol) Bruckner of North Fort Myers, Florida; 12 grandchildren, Connie Duvel, Ron (Patti) Duvel, Chuck (Lorna) Duvel, all of Postville, Iowa, Brenda (Mark) Fredrickson of Grafton, Iowa, Julie (Dirk) Lebeda of Palo, Iowa, Mike (Michelle) Engelhardt of Waucoma, Iowa, Paul (Darcy) Engelhardt of Luana, Iowa, Preston (Valerie) Engelhardt of Mabel, Minnesota, Melissa (Brad) Mohs of Fredericksberg, Iowa, Daniel Bruckner, Kevin Bruckner, and Mark Bruckner, all of North Fort Myers, Florida, 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Naomi (Ervin) Hull of Diamond City, Arkansas.
