Contributor: Connie Ellis (Schlitter Family Researcher)Funeral services for Grover Theodore Timmerman, age 68, of Lansing, Iowa were held at 10:30 a.m. on April 1 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa with Rev. Marlyn Hanson officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Henry Rissman, Donald Kerndt, Harold Kerndt, Willard Fritz, Harold Fritz, and Robert Curtin.
Grover Theodore Timmerman, son of William and Hermina "Minnie" (Witt) Timmerman, was born January 31, 1904 in Allamakee County. He was educated in the local schools. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of Allamakee County. On April 14, 1926 he married Hazel Carolina Henrietta Schlitter in Monona, Iowa. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa.
Grover Theodore Timmerman died Thursday, March 30, 1972 in the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel who died November 11, 1970, 2 daughters, Ruth Elizabeth Timmerman who died at the age of 2, and Jeanette Goodno who died in 1958; and a brother Herman Timmerman who died in 1966.
Grover is survived by his 2 sons, Delbert (Betty) Timmerman and LaVern Timmerman, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a daughter, Arlene (Clifton) Yearous of Lansing, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 6 brothers, Fred Timmerman of Detroit, Michigan, Henry Timmerman of McGregor, Iowa, Harry Timmerman, Theodore Timmerman, Frank Timmerman, and Willis Timmerman, all of Monona, Iowa; and 4 sisters, Annie (William) Ferguson, and Selda Topel, both of Waukon, Iowa, Emma (Wesley) Snitker of Frankville, Iowa, and Mabel (Verni) Kruse of Monona, Iowa, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
