Simon Winters, an old resident, passed away Thursday at the home of his son John, in Jefferson township, after an illness of several weeks with heart trouble. He was born in Germany about 78 years ago, coming to this country and county as a young man. - Waukon Journal

The death of Simon Winters of near Forest Mills occurred at his home Thursday afternoon. Deceased was born in Germany in 1849 and came to this country when a young child settling at Sheboygan, Wisconsin. When 15 years old he came to Ludlow township and has made that vicinity his home for many years. - Waukon Republican and Standard.
