Wesley Cotton, who has been an invalid for a long time, died on Wednesday morning. His family have our condolence

~Notes:
1880 US Census, Post twp. enumerated Wesley Cotton, age 64, b. NH; his wife Marietta and children Belle, Henriette, Dora and May. Also in the household was Samuel Preston, a boarder. Wesley's entry is annotated "palsy".

I re-checked the date on the newspaper that published Wesley Cotton's death notice. It is definitely Feb 19, 1881. The year of death inscribed on his gravestone is 1880, the same as given in the Woodmansee record. In addition to the spelling of the surname, Woodmansee also gives incorrect birth years & relationship info. for the other Cotton burials. Sarah, Adelade & Wesley O. are all children of Wesley Cotton and his wife Marietta. I've posted their death notices on this board.

Wesley Cotton (1816- 1881 Feb 15) is listed in Allamakee Death records and is buried in Postville Cemetery. Dale Woodmansee has him as Wesley Collon. Also there is a Sarah A Cotton (1818 Dec 09- 1877 Aug 07) listed in Woodmansee as Collon.
