Funeral services for Verona Bellon, age 88, of New Albin, Iowa, were held Wednesday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, in Allamakee County, Iowa. Burial was in the Wheatland Church cemetery.

Verona, a lifelong resident of the New Albin, Iowa area, was born October 27, 1901 in Union City Township, rural New Albin, Iowa to John and Anna (Schoh) Schulze. She attended Wheatland School in rural New Albin. On July 20, 1946 she married Gottlieb Bellon in Cresco, Iowa. They owned and operated a grocery store and restaurant in New Albin. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where she had served as organist and Sunday School teacher.

Verona died Saturday, May 26, 1990 at the Caledonia Health Care Center in Caledonia, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gottlieb, who died March 29, 1988 and a brother Henry Schoh.

Verona is survived by a step-son, Florin Bellon of Gautier, Mississippi, 5 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
