Funeral services were held Monday, February 2 at Rosehill Cemetery in Whittier, California for a former Waukon resident, Bessie May Beard, age 67, Hesperia, California, who died January 29, 1987 at Victorville, California.

Bessie was born in Waukon, Iowa on January 20, 1920, the daughter of Paul and Marie (Ralston) Tomlinson. She graduated from Waukon High School in the late 1930's. She moved to California in 1943 and lived there until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marian Tomlinson.

Surviving are her children: Patricia Christie and Paula Smith, both of Hesperia, California, Ronnie Beard of West Covina, California, Harvey Dale Beard of Baldwin Park, California, and Rebecca Palm of Bellflower, California; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters, and 2 brothers, Kenneth Tomlinson of Baldwin Park, California, Margaret Brainard of Waukon, Iowa, Myrtle Flores of La Puente, California, and David Tomlinson of Fontana, California.
