Funeral services for Leo S. Jones, age 92, of Waterville, Iowa were held Friday September 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Judd Larson officiated. Burial, with military rites at graveside, was in the Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, Iowa. Pallbearers were Darwin and Rodney Jones, Karl Buerger, Allen Dlouhy, Charles Schulte, and David Dimmer.

Leo died Wednesday, September 23, 1987 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. He was born May 24, 1895 in Linton Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Frank and Viola (Sutter) Jones. He was a life-time area resident. He received his education in local rural schools. Leo served in the Army during World War I from June 25, 1918 to June 13, 1919. He served some time in France. On March 8, 1921 he married Ruth Finley in Waukon, Iowa. He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, George Jones, Earl Jones, Guy Jones, Jessie Wallace, Clara Jones, and Ruby Snitker.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; 4 daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Grace) Groves of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Leonard (Lucille) Dlouhy of Walker, Iowa, Mrs. Lyle (Anaruth) Dimmer of Dubuque, Iowa and Mrs. Willi (Carol) Buerger of Garber, Iowa; 2 sons, Emmett Jones of Lansing, Iowa and Everett Jones of Dubuque, Iowa; a sister, Ruth Ransdell of Akron, Ohio; a brother Milo Jones of Harpers Ferry, Iowa; 32 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
