Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 for Clarence C. Meyer of Eitzen, Minnesota at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Eitzen. Pastor Lloyd Fried officiated. Burial was held in St. Luke's Cemetery. Haugen-Roble Funeral Home of Caledonia was in charge of arrangements.
Clarence died at the age of 76 Saturday, October 3, 1987 at the Caledonia Health Care Center, Caledonia, Minnesota. He was born February 6, 1911 in Allamakee County to August and Augusta (Deters) Meyer. He attended rural school in Allamakee County and also the School of Agriculture in St. Paul, Minnesota. On December 4, 1940 he married Edna Meyer in St. John's United Church of Christ in rural New Albin, Iowa. He was a life-long resident of the Dorchester and Eitzen, Minnesota areas, farming in the Dorchester area. He retired in 1972 and moved from the farm to Eitzen. Clarence was a member of St. Luke's UCC in Eitzen where he served on the church council. He also served on the school board or rural schools in Allamakee County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; 2 sons, Lyle Meyer of Dousman, Wisconsin and Gerald Meyer of Dorchester, Iowa; 5 daughters Beverly Bodine of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Barbara Morken of Spring Grove, Minnesota, Sandra Beardmore of Salcha, Arkansas, Dianne Beneke of New Albin, Iowa, and Sherry Plein of Independence, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; a brother Alvin Meyer of Waukon, Iowa and 4 sisters, Ruth Deters, Sara Deters, and Flora Meiners, all of Eitzen, Minnesota and Margaret Martin of Washington.
