Funeral services were held for Elizabeth K. "Lizzie" Rissman Sunday, October 4 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, Iowa. The Rev. Larry Olson officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was held in the Lansing Ridge Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Allan and Wayne Rissman, Dean, Todd and Steve Bakke, and Brian, Brad, and Kenny Krambeer.

Lizzie died Thursday, October 1, 1987 in Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 89 years. She was born September 4, 1898 in Post Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to George and Kathryn (Fitz) Schellhammer. She attended Allamakee County rural schools. On October 3, 1916 she married Charles Rissman on her family farm in Center Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. She was a lifetime Allamakee County resident, living 50 years on a farm in Makee Township, and moved to Waukon, Iowa in 1961. Since April of 1987 she has resided at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and also of United Presbyterian Women. She enjoyed embroidering and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Christina Zimmerman, two brothers Gottlieb Schellhammer and Charles Schellhammer, a grandson and a granddaughter.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; a son Harvey Rissman of Waukon, Iowa, a foster daughter, Mrs. Charles (Sylvia) Bakke of Waterville, Iowa; 2 sisters, Mrs. John (Laura) Oesterle and Flora Marti of Waukon, Iowa; 2 brothers George Schellhammer of West Bend Iowa, and John Schellhammer of Waukon, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Note: Sylvia was the daughter of Lizzie's sister, Christina and William Zimmerman. Sylvia's parents died when she was very young and she was then raised by Lizzie and Charles Rissman.
