Hegeman of Waukon, Iowa, who died Sunday June 14, 1987 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa. Father Larry Duenas officiated at the 11 a.m. services with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Dale Goltz, grandsons Jerry Champion, Donald and Robert Hagemen, and Jim Irvin and nephew Jerry Blake.
Donald was born August 19, 1910 in Northwood, Iowa to William H. and Jeannette (Dougherty) Hegeman. He graduated from Waukon High School and Waukon Junior College. He married Betty Blake in 1930. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Patrick's Church. He was the owner of a coin machine business.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; 7 children, Mrs. Tom (Mary Ann) Champion of Decorah, Iowa, Bill Hegeman of Rochester, Minnesota, Mrs. Bill (Jeanie) Irvin of Wichita, Kansas, Robert James "Jim" Hegeman of Iowa City, Iowa, Mrs. Bob (Therese) Nelsen of Melbourne Beach, Florida, and Mrs. Harris (Katherine) Lemberg of Madison, Wisconsin; 24 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a brother Robert Hegeman of Waukon, Iowa and 2 sisters, Mrs. Al (Mary Frances) Voegele of Livermore, California, and Mrs. Aldo (Catherine) Minegar of Orange, California.
