Irvin Henning

Funeral services for Irvin Henning were held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church. Rev. James Elvig officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery.

Irvin Theodore Henning, son of Theodore and Emma (Grotegut) Henning, was born March 10, 1923 in Allamakee County, near Frankville. He died Monday, May 27, 1985 at Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, WI.

He was baptized and confirmed at the Salem United Church of Christ. Irvin attended the rural school near his home. November 26, 1943 he was married to Norma Schmidt. They were the parents of 6 children.

They farmed in the Frankville area for 11 years, then near Waukon for over 20 years and for the past 14 years they have lived in Frankville where he was employed by the Winneshiek County Highway Department.

He was a member of the Frankville Community Presbyterian Church, presently serving as an Elder, having previously served as an Elder for 6 years, and a member of the Frankville Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, Norma, 4 sons: Ron (Peggy) Henning of Castalia, Darrel (Mary) Henning of Postville, Scott Henning of Postville and Mark Henning of Dothan, AL; 2 daughters: Ann (David) Clark of Dothan, AL, and Kim (Mike) Zenor of Gainesville, FL, 10 grandchildren, Wade, Devon, Beth and Aryan Henning, Ryan and Kasey Clark, Todd, Mark, Matt, and Kelley Henning; his mother, Emma, of Waukon; 4 brothers: Reuben of Decorah, Larry of Greenville, SC, Robert of Ossian and Calvin of Waukon; 3 sisters: Loraine (Harlen) Koenig of Postville, Gertrude (Robert) Hagen and Betty (Virgil) Opfer, both of Waukon.

Casket bearers were Dean, Lyle and Randy Henning, Duane Koenig, John Opfer and David Lawson.
