Funeral services for Hattie M. Ewing of Waukon, Iowa will be held Tuesday, October 15 at 2:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. John Middents. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon with Jack Hager, Jerry Hager, James Hager, Melvin Nolting, Donald Hager, and Art Guese serving as pallbearers. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ewing, a homemaker, died Sunday October 13, 1985 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. She was 86 years of age. She was born September 11, 1899 in Allamakee County. She was the daughter of Henry and Sophia (Grotegut) Hager. She attended local schools. She and Melvin C. Ewing were married in Waukon, Iowa on July 24, 1919.

Melvin died September 30, 1963. She is also preceded in death by a daughter Marjorie who died in infancy; sisters, Lydia, Helen, and Sophie; and brothers, Henry, Fred, William, Otto, Ed, Elmer, and John Hager.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.C. (Lillian) Batla of Waterloo, Iowa; 2 sons, James Ewing of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Melvin J. "Buck" Ewing of West Union, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
