Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Arnold B. Goetzinger, age 70, of Freeburg, Minnesota, Crooked Creek, Houston County, died Monday, June 13, 1988 in his home. He was born December 7, 1917 in Caledonia, Minnesota to John and Lorena (Roth) Goetzinger. On April 22, 1942 he married Margaret Koelsch in Little Falls, Minnesota. A lifelong resident of Crooked Creek area, he attended rural school in Houston County and farmed in Crooked Creek township. He was a bulk milk hauler, a school bus driver, and had also been a trucker. He was instrumental in the Crooked Creek Watershed Project and served on its board. He was a member of the Freeburg School Board and the Peace United Church of Christ council. He had also worked on the Founders Day committee in Caledonia, Minnesota.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at Peace United Church of Christ. The Rev. Dan Jensen officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Haugen-Roble Funeral Home, Caledonia, Minnesota was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Patrick O'Heron, Ricky Goetzinger, David Goetzinger, Scott Goetzinger, Wilbert Schuldt, and Arnold Heimerdinger.
He was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret; 6 sons, Verne, Leslie, and Daniel Goetzinger, all of Caledonia, Minnesota, Ronald Goetzinger of Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, Lyle Goetzinger of New Albin, Iowa, and Russell Goetzinger of Houston, Minnesota; 2 daughters, Elaine Houser of Caledonia, Minnesota and Maureen Kaufmann of Winona, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Alvin Goetzinger of Brownsville, Minnesota, and Jack Goetzinger of Fort Lupton, Colorado; and a sister, Helen Wohlers of Brownsville, Minnesota.
