Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Amy K. Marston were held Friday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, Iowa. Rev. Dick Harberts officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dr. Milton F. Kiesau, Ed Kozelka, John Schultz, Everett McKee, Ron Taylor, and K.T. Cook.
Amy Katherine, daughter of August and Belle (Seitz) Meier, was born March 9, 1888 on a farm near Postville, Iowa. She died Tuesday evening, April 12, 1988 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Episcopal Church. After graduating from the Postville High School in 1904, she attended Cornell College. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, in Madison in 1910. She also attended the Gregg College of Business in Chicago in 1918.
Amy began her teaching career at the Woodland School and the Postville High School. She also taught school in various other areas including; Plainfield, Wisconsin, Sioux City, Iowa, Chisholm, Minnesota, Burbank, California, and Des Moines, Iowa. In 1922 she became the principal of the Postville High School. On November 27, 1936 she married Euclid C. Marston in Waterloo, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband who died November 27, 1957.
She is survived by 2 step-daughters, Jean Lopez, Houston, Texas and Virginia Douglas, Cedar Falls, Iowa; 3 step-sons, Joseph Marston, Bridgewater, New Jersey, Craig Marston, Spokane, Washington, and Dwight Marston, Winona, Minnesota; 5 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren.
