Funeral services were held for Frances Miene Tuesday, February 2 at 11 a.m. at St.Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, Iowa. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Albert Moose, Dennis Rooney, Ewald Walch, Mark Beisker, Allen Wahls, William Miene, Jr. and Harlan Walch.

Francis Augusta Miene, daughter of Albert and Minnie (Winters) Gilson, was born February 28, 1912 at Luana, Iowa. She died Saturday, January 30 in the Community Memorial Hospital at Postville, Iowa. She was baptized June 23, 1929 and attended the Little Red School House in Volney and also Waukon High School. On November 23, 1932 she married Fred Miene in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed in the Luana area. She was a member of St.Paul Lutheran Church since April 2, 1939, the LCW and was a member of the Grand Meadow Country Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died March 27, 1965 and one sister, Beneva Wahls.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Dotseth of Decorah, Iowa and Mrs. Marlin (Erma Jean) Swenson of Postville, Iowa; 3 sons, Harold, Willard, and Wayne Miene, all of Luana, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lois Moose of Monona, Iowa, Alice Rooney of Boscobel, Wisconsin, and Hazel Beisker of Littleton, Colorado.
