Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 6 for Bliss G. Roberts, age 89, who died Sunday, July 3, 1988 at Northgate Manor in Waukon, Iowa. Pastor Glen Robinson officiated at the 11 a.m. services held at Martin Funeral Home. Burial was in Long Grove Cemetery in Maynard, Iowa.

Bliss was born September 3, 1898 in the English Bench area of Allamakee County, Iowa to Joseph and Laura (Beardmore) Sadler. She attended rural schools in the English Bench area. On April 5, 1921 she married Russell Roberts in Waukon, Iowa. They lived in the Maynard area for 20 years. Russell died September 28, 1969. She was a cook, homemaker, and farm wife.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Royal, Wayne, Irving, Urban, and Clifford Sadler. Surviving are 2 nieces, Beulah Sires of Waukon, Iowa and Ruth Clinton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a nephew, Glenn Sadler of Nice, California and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Urban Sadler of Postville, Iowa.
