Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Violet Florence Schellsmidt was born May 5, 1910 at Waukon Junction, Iowa to John and Olive (Gaylord) Luster. She was educated in the rural schools of Allamakee County. Violet died Wednesday August 16, 1989 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 19 at 11 a.m. at the Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa. Pastor Eugene Kramer officiated. Burial was at the Rossville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Echard, Dale Echard, Harry Luster, Jr., Richard Thornton, Raymond Siegele, and Dewey Prouty. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
On June 27, 1928 Violet was united in marriage to Clement Schellsmidt at Harpers Ferry, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Harpers Ferry area. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clement who died August 1, 1980; five brothers, John, Robert, Earl, Harry, and Minor Luster; and one sister, Fernett McLaughlin. Surviving are nieces and nephews.
