Ethel D. Meehan, age 67, a lifetime resident of Harpers Ferry, Iowa died Thursday, August 17, 1989 at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 19 at St. Ann's-St.Joseph's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Father Duane Raftis conducted the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was in St.Joseph's Cemetery, Paint Rock, rural Harpers Ferry with Martin's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were her grandchildren: Jeffrey Troendle, Kerry Troendle, Lori Willenssen, Jeremy Troendle, Marcy Troendle, Jennifer Meehan, Tonya Meehan, Michelle Brendel, Michael Brendel, Melissa Brendel, Mariette Brendel and Trina Meehan.

The Rosary Society of St.Ann's-St.Joseph's Church, Marion Cota, Zita Gavin, Loretta Bulman, Bernie Heffern, Ruth Livingston, Eleanor O'Neil, and Vi Saddler served as honorary pallbearers.

Ethel was born February 4, 1922 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa to Forrest and Mildred (Martel) Robinson. She graduated from Waukon High School and Waukon Junior College. On June 14, 1943 she married Lloyd Meehan at St.Ann's Church. She taught country school in the Harpers Ferry area for 12 years. She was a member of St.Ann's-St.Joseph's Catholic Church, ACCW, Rosary Society, women's auxiliary of the church and the American Legion Auxiliary at Harpers Ferry, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl, Leo, Marcus "Red", and Bill Robinson.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, Richard Meehan of Iowa City, Iowa and Daniel Meehan of Onalaska, Wisconsin; three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Marilyn) Troendle of Waukon, Iowa, Mrs. Bill (Elizabeth) Brendel and Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Strub, both of Viroqua, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; a great grandchild, a sister, Mrs. Edith Zender of Austin, Minnesota and a brother, Forrest Robinson, Jr. of Mt.Pleasant, Texas.
