Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held Wednesday May 17,1989 at Martin Funeral Chapel for Lloyd Russell Leikvold, 71, who died May 15, 1989 at Veterans Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Emil Martinson conducted the 2 p.m. services. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Casket bearers were Norman Rema, Charles Christianson, Alton Evanson, Melbourne Evanson, Boyd Jeglum, Robert Hagen, and John Rema.
A lifetime area resident, he was born February 20, 1918 in rural Waterville to Gilbert and Emeline (Rema) Leikvold. He graduated from Waterville High School. On June 11, 1953 he married Theresa Kelly at St.Joseph's Paint Rock Catholic Church. He was a farmer and did construction work with cement.
Surviving are his wife, two sons Lyle and Dale of Waukon, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. David (Julie) Stietz of Gratiot, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Alvin (Evelyn) Thompson of Waukon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Devin, a sister Clarice Hayes, and a brother Gordon Leikvold.
