Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Otto H. Renk, 69, who died Friday, July 17, 1987 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon,Iowa, was buried Monday, July 20 in the Lansing Ridge Cemetery. Funeral services were held at Zion United Church of Christ at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating.
He was born March 9, 1918 in Allamakee County to William and Rosina (Kurk) Renk. He attended local schools and was a member of Zion UCC. On July 6, 1979 he married Leona Hager in Waukon. He had been a farmer and an Allamakee County employee before retiring at the age of 65.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter Mrs. Mike (Sandra) Tierney of Cross Plains, WI, two sons, Jerry of St. Francis, KS and James of Morris, IL; two step-children, Mrs. Ordell (Grace) Sorenson of Waterville and Richard Hager of Waukon, seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Brinker of Eitzen, MN.
He was preceded in death by a brother Herbert and a sister Selma. Martin Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were LeRoy McCabe, Wesley Winter, Vernon Melcher, Lloyd Newton, David Kurk, and Alvin Renk. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Walsh, Bill Walsh, Viv Wiltgen, Charles Kilpatrick, Joe Norton, Norman Rosendahl, Lynn Winter, Don Kellison, George Decker, and John Schuldt.
