Miriam E. Depping, 81, of Rockford, Illinois, died Friday, September 29,1989 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Memorial service was held at noon, Saturday October 7, 1989 at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, Iowa with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating. Burial was held in Oakland Cemetery with Burpee-Wood Funeral Home in Rockford in charge of arrangements.

Miriam was born January 28, 1908 in Postville, Iowa to Edward C. and Sarah E.(Steffan) Depping. She graduated from The University of Iowa with B.A. and M.A. degrees and continued her studies at the University of Colorado, University of Illinois, and Northern Illinois University. She was employed as an elementary and junior high school teacher in Iowa for 13 years, and then taught business education at Rockford West High School for 29 years. She lived in Rockford for 46 years.

Miriam was a member of Second Congregational Church in Rockford, AAUW, IEA, NEA, IRTA, Zeta Chapter of Delta Gamma, and Rockford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Among the many cousins surviving are Mr. and Mrs. Robert O. Stock of Waukon. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Reuben Depping.
