Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 5, 1989 for Bernard J. Roerkohl, 76, of Caledonia, MN, who died Saturday, September 2, 1989 at St. Frances Medical Center, LaCrosse, WI. The Rev. Joseph Cashman conducted the 10:30 a.m. service held at St. Mary's Church in Caledonia. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with McCormick Funeral Home of Caledonia in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 20, 1913 in Dorchester, Iowa to Ben and Anna (Schulte) Roerkohl. On June 9, 1938 he married Kathleen Byrnes in Hanover. They farmed in the Dorchester area until 1956 when they moved to the Caledonia area and began farming there. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caledonia.

Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Marlene Norman of Viroqua, WI, Donna Hyde of Santee, CA, and Genevieve Roerkohl of San Diego, CA; a son, Donald of Rockford, IL; eight grandchildren, a great-grandchild and a sister, Bernadine Peplinsky of LaCrosse, WI. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Casket bearers were Tom Byrnes, Bernard and Tony Hammel, Paul and Pat Schulte, and Jim Peplinsky.
