William Harvey Kelly, son of the late William Morton Kelly, was called by death Thursday afternoon, November 19, 1936, after an illness of three months from a paralytic stroke. He was born to William M. and Sarah (Lewis) Kelly on March 2, 1870 on the farm in Paint Creek Township where he spent his entire life. He was married to Miss Sarah Klees at Waukon on November 20, 1901 and to this union was born two children, Ruth and Reed, the latter passed away in September 1920.

Mr. Kelly was a devoted husband and father and a loyal friend to everyone. During his long period of illness he was always grateful to those who tried to make his sufferings easier, and toward the last when he realized his condition, he was satisfied to meet his Maker. He leaves to mourn his passing his grief stricken wife and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth O'Brien and children, Helen, Cyril, and Mary. Two brothers and three sisters as follows: Dan Kelly, Jess Kelly, and Miss Nettie Kelly of this community. Mrs. Bert Gast of Nora Springs, Iowa and Mrs. Mary Campbell of Sheridan, Wyoming. They were all present at the funeral except the latter who was not well enough to come. A brother, Fred Kelly, of Grand Island, Neb. and sister, Mrs. Alice Campbell of this neighborhood preceded him in death.

The funeral which was largely attended was held at the Rossville Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev.R.L. Van Nice of Waukon conducted the services and preached an excellent sermon and also read the prayer at the grave. He was laid to rest by the side of his little son in the Rossville cemetery. The pallbearers were his neighbors and friends: Julius Snitker, Ray Leas, Walter Gast, Owen Kavanaugh, James Carlson, and Robert McGeough.
