Funeral services were held Saturday August 10, 1996 for Ireta M. Leas, 91, who died Wednesday August 7, 1996 at the Good Samaritan Center. The 11 a.m. services were conducted by the Rev. Lynn Groe at Martin Funeral Home. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, Iowa.

Ireta was the daughter of Charles and Margaret (Hoard) Deal. She was born January 19, 1905 at their farm home west of Rossville, Iowa. Ireta attended rural elementary school in the Rossville area, Waukon High School, and Business College in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. On June 30, 1936 Ireta married Floyd A. Leas in Sparta, Wisconsin. He died March 17, 1957.

She worked several years at the poultry plant in Postville, was a seamstress and babysat for area families. She was formerly active in the Rossville Presbyterian Church and its women's organizations. Ireta had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center since November 1992.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Neal and Sharon Leas of Dallas Center; a brother, Eugene Deal of Waukon and two grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Zelda Leas and Fearyl Leas and two brothers, Merrill and Lynn Deal. Casket bearers were Jack Beisker, Dave Snitker, Joe Norton, LeRoy Leas, Ronald Adam, and Bruce Snitker.
