Mattie E. Becker, 81, a resident of the Good Samaritan Home, died April 20 at the Waukon hospital.
She was born in Waukon March 7, 1904, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Ludeking) Winkie. She married Edward Becker August 27, 1925 in Waukon, She was a member of the Zalmona Presbyterian Church and was active in craft work at the Good Samaritan Home.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruby) Evans and Mrs. Albert (Mary Lou) Bublitz of Waukon; two sons, Dale B. of Manhattan Beach, Calif. and Neil of Waukon; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ben and Rueben Winkie of Waukon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969 and a sister Esther.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Zalmona Church. Rev. James Jacobson officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. The Martin funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Frank Hager, Charles Howe, Gary Berger, Richard Winkie, Dr. Bervene Ludeking and Bill Evans.
