The Lansing Mirror.......Friday, November 20, 1891

"MRS. CAROLINE MARTIN, aged nearly 90 years died at the home of her son, Fred, near Thompson's Corners, on Saturday evening last and was buried in the cemetery close by. Rev. O. Rall of Dubuque and Rev. L. F. Smith of this city officiated at the funeral which was largely attended. The husband of the deceased died nearly 10 years ago. For 33 years, or ever since coming to this country, Mrs. Marten had made her home with her son, Frederick. She leaves seven sons among whom are Herman, Frank, Julius and August, well-known here, and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Baske, of Brownsville, Minnesota. All the sons, including Ferdinand, Frank and Julius from Ackley, were present excepting son Charles who resides in Illinois. The funeral took place Monday. "
