Funeral services were held here Sunday at the Community Presbyterian church for Elmer McGhee, 68, of Eldorado Springs, Mo., who died after a short illness. The Rev. J. Ian Fraser officiated and burial was in Postville cemetery.
Mr. McGhee was born in Post township, Allamakee county, and on October 12, 1893, he was married to Miss Myrta M. Cook in Postville. They lived in Postville until 1916. Mr. McGhee operated a livery service, managed a hotel and for a period served as town marshal.
In 1916 they moved to Dubuque, later going to Cedar Rapids. For the last 18 years they had been residents of Eldorado Springs, where Mr. McGhee operated a truck farm.
He is survived by his wife, a son, Clifton, of Dubuque, a sister, Mrs. S.O. Swenson, and a brother, Elbe, both of Postville.

~No date of death was given in the obituary, but he most likely died in late December 1939. The body was taken from Missouri to Postville for burial, which probably took a few days.
